Procedure: Add iodotrimethylsilane (1.2 eq) dropwise to a solution of benzyl alcohol in dry DCM at 0°C. Stir for 2 hrs at room temperature. Quench with MeOH, extract with EtOAc, and purify by column chromatography. Yield: 92%.
Procedure: Mix benzoic acid (1 eq) with iodotrimethylsilane (1.5 eq) in THF. Reflux for 4 hrs. Evaporate solvent to obtain trimethylsilyl ester, used directly in peptide coupling. Conversion Rate: >95%.
